Internet users in schools, homes and businesses download and run low-impact research applications to contribute CPU time to a research problem, and in the process become familiar with the project's objectives. Idle CPU cycles are applied to the research problem rather than wasted. Calculations do not interfere with normal computer operation.

Our systems are used for certain classes of loosely coupled computing problems. Computations requiring highly coupled matricies, cells or nodes that exchange much data or communicate very often are better suited for conventional supercomputers, however, sometimes the problem can be recast from a highly coupled system to a less coupled one.
